Overall Best Forgiving Irons for Women
Cobra are really bringing out some fantastic clubs as of late, and I genuinely think they are the best for forgiveness across the board. The same can be said for their men’s drivers, in my opinion.
These F-Max Airspeed irons are incredibly light and really favour a slower swing speed. They really don’t need to be hammered to get great ball flight, which is the general sore-point of a lot of women’s branded clubs.
Budget Women’s Forgiving Irons
The Benross Pearl provides a “combo set”, which means that you will get standard cavity back irons, as well as significantly more forgiving hybrids for your longer irons. This gives a great set of forgiving irons no matter your handicap.
This set really focusses on getting the ball in the air with ease, as the clubheads are made to promote an increase in clubhead speed without an increase in effort for those with slightly slower swing speeds.
You will have a cavity back iron from your 8-iron to your sand wedge, and then your 6/7 iron will be wider sole hybrids with a cavity back design which are designed to be ultra-forgiving and promote high launch angles.

What To Look For When Buying Women’s Irons
Experienced women will be able to handle longer irons confidently, such as a 5-iron. However, due to the swing speed requirements, many will feel more comfortable using a hybrid. This is why I would always recommend a club set which has hybrids for the longer clubs. Even the female pros are using them these days!
A hybrid requires less swing speed to get the ball in the air, and can be infinitely more forgiving than a standard long iron.
On top of this, I would always recommend looking at cavity back irons for your shorter irons. A wide and round sole, with a cavity back will get those with a slow swing get the ball in the air with less effort.
Another key point is budget and experience level. If you’re a serious golfer, and have been for years then go ahead and splash out on some of the more expensive clubs. They will last you another 5-10 years! However, if you’re brand new to gold and not sure whether it is right for you yet, then I would be hesitant to go straight into the top level clubs. Get yourself a used set for now, and spend your money on lessons. Your instructor will likely push you in the right direction when it is time to spend on new clubs.
Conclusions
In conclusion, do your research on exactly what you need on the golf course. You know your swing better than anyone, and you know what areas you need to improve on. I think we’re coming into the age of the hybrid club golfer. Especially in female golf. Don’t be ashamed to feel as though you need a 5 or 6 hybrid. If they help you perform well, then there is nothing wrong with using them, as they will inherently allow you to enjoy the game of golf more…and that’s all that matters at the end of the day.
